Back to the story..
The day we landed back in Australia from America, we flew straight to Adelaide for the Carnivore Collective Conference. I turned to Dave and admitted how nervous I was about the event. I had to speak in front of 400 passionate carnivore fans. As a major sponsor, we were meant to represent this incredible company that provides unbelievably healthy, grass-fed, free-range, and organic meat. Yet, to be honest, we didn’t exactly look the part.
We were both carrying a few extra kilos, and after eating our way through America for the last ten days, I felt like a fraud. I joked to Dave, “I feel like the mechanic with the broken-down car.”
I was scheduled to be the last speaker of the day. By then, everyone was getting restless and ready to head home. I was battling imposter syndrome, wondering what value I could possibly offer these health-conscious people. So, I decided to start my speech with a confession:
“I’ve just flown in from America, and in the last 10 days, I’ve eaten my body weight in pancakes and pizza—but I’m going to give this carnivore thing a crack.”
The room erupted in laughter, and I immediately felt more at ease.
We listened to incredible speakers like Dr. Anthony Chaffee, who shared the health benefits of the carnivore diet, and Steak and Butter Girl, who proudly declared she eats 5,000 calories a day of—you guessed it—steak and butter. It was also amazing to meet so many of our customers who are devoted to this way of eating!
The event was really eye-opening. The carnivore clan is an incredibly passionate and dedicated group. What I love is how flexible it can be—you can choose to be as strict or as relaxed as you like.
For us, we started on November 25th, just one week before Christmas. Who starts a diet a month before Christmas? Apparently, we do.
To be fair, there have been a few conscious off-track food choices, like indulging at Christmas and sneaking some stress chocolate during Black Friday when our website crashed from all the traffic 🥲. But overall, I’ve managed to stay about 85% on track.
Dave, on the other hand, has been 100% committed. He’s like a dog with a bone—once he sets his mind to something, there’s no stopping him.
Oh, and he’s also decided he wants to become a pro motocross racer this year or something. I’m not sure if he’s clinging to his youth or having a midlife crisis, but either way, I’m happy for him. It’s made him really prioritize his health, and that’s what matters most!
He actually signed up to this motocross fitness program, and I’ve been roped into it as well…..
TBC!

PS. Theres no right or wrong time to start something, the easiest place to start is filling your fridge with good quality produce.
